Brazil team World Cup 2018
The Selecao will once again be among the favourites to taste glory in World cup Russia, as they have on five occasions so far
·Ah, Brazil. The legendary yellow kit. The samba music. The dancing. Ronaldo. Ronaldinho. Pele.
The Selecao will once again be among the favorites to taste glory in Russia, as they have on five occasions so far in their illustrious history.
They had been tipped to add to that haul in their home tournament four years ago, but a 7-1 humbling in the semi-final to eventual winners Germany left a country needing to rebuild its momentarily tattered footballing reputation.
And that's why even more focus will be on the Samba Stars as they bid for a sixth crown this time around.
Guide
Brazil blazed a trail to the top of the South American qualifying table, winning 12 and losing just one of their 18 fixtures.
They scored 31 goals and conceded only 11, racking up 41 points, 10 more than nearest challengers Uruguay in what was an otherwise competitive campaign, as shown by Chile's failure to qualify.
But Brazil did draw 0-0 with England at Wembley in their last friendly outing. We still believe!
Star player
NEYMAR
No prizes for guessing this one.
A bona-fide superstar of the global game, the most expensive footballer in history and a player with the hopes of a nation weighing heavy on his shoulders.
Currently out of action with a broken toe, the Paris Saint-Germain forward should recover in plenty of time to take his place in Russia.
He has 28 goals so far this term and 53 strikes in 83 appearances for his country - all by the age of just 26.
Neymar missed the nightmare semi-final defeat to Germany with his teammates holding his jersey while they sung the national anthem, such is his importance. And he will once again be the key man this time around.
Rising star
Gabriel Jesus
It's maybe easy to forget that Gabriel Jesus is still only 20 years of age given his success at Manchester City so far.
He has already shown his enormous potential with the Blues, scoring regularly when he is selected, albeit being far from a permanent fixture in Pep Guardiola's lineup.
Jesus averages more than a goal every other game in the Premier League, despite many of his outings coming from the bench, and has eight international strikes in just 13 appearances.
Can he help Brazil to glory in Fifa World Cup 18?
Sunday June 17 - Brazil vs Switzerland, 7pm, Rostov Arena, Rostov
